KINGMAN PLACE ROWHOUSE, WASHINGTON, DC

Completed 2015

This complete renovation and addition to a historic row house is located in the Logan Circle neighborhood. Working with the Historic Preservation review board, we preserved its historic street façade while taking advantage of a clean slate within to explore design options with the clients.

We extended the structure by 12 feet, in-filled the light courts, and underpinned the basement to create higher ceilings, effectively doubling the area of the previous structure. On the main floor, the addition has a Pedini-designed kitchen, that blends seamlessly with the new wood back deck through expansive NanaWall glass doors. The second floor's layout is designed to maximize flow while allowing flexibility in privacy.
