PRINCIPAL

Jon Hensley is an architect with 40 years of practice focused on strengthening communities through fostering collaborative design, enduring relationships, and vibrant art and design. Jon has actively supported arts organizations including 13 years with the Arlington Public Art Committee, and 6 years with the Arlington Commission of the Arts. Jon is a board member of the American Easement Foundation which manages historic preservation easments on properties across the US. He has been a visiting critic at the Catholic University School of Architecture and a member of the Pinecrest School Board of Directors. Jon graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and is a registered architect in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He is an avid fan of gardening, Nats baseball, and music.

JAIME RAMIREZ
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

Jaime received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Catholic University in 2015, after spending a semester in Paris on a scholarship.

Kathryn Cahir, leed ap
senior architectural designer

Kat received her Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and her undergrad physics degree from Harvard College. In the 15 years between earning those, Kat worked as a carpenter and design/builder in the Denver/Boulder area. Kat’s experience in architecture ranges from Net Zero tiny homes to Smithsonian museum renovations. She is committed to sustainability, social justice, permaculture, nieces, cats, swimming, biking, and hiking, although not necessarily in that order.

Alex Sawyer, leed ap, CPHC
senior architectural designer

Alex attended architecture school at Drexel University in the City of Brotherly Love and has 20 years of experience in design and construction. He has a deep affinity for sustainable building practices and has obtained credentialing in passive house consulting, LEED, and other wonky building-science-related pursuits. Alex also has deep experience with healthy-homes protocols and design strategies and helped design and implement the first of its kind, Johns Hopkins and Calvert led, "pay-for-performance" social impact bond, an initiative that aimed to use home renovation as a means to reduce emergency room recidivism in inner-city Baltimore kids suffering from asthma. Alex has three kids, a dog named Petunia, and has perfected the French omelet.

MADDIE MUIR
apprentice

Maddie recently completed her sophomore year of college studying Interior Architecture at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design in the George Washington University. She’s excited to continue learning about design and art history, hopefully through a semester abroad in Copenhagen. She really loves traveling, music, baking, and, of course, cats.

 

Alex trapanese
apprentice

Alex recently completed her sophomore year of college at the Tulane School of Architecture in New Orleans, LA. She is in the Tulane five-year B. Arch program and is also working towards a minor in French. She enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, and reading.
